Links to Sites About Game ProgrammingAllegro Game Developers Network: Some great tutorials for programming in Allegro and some cool tutorials (including things like A* algorithm, tile maps, and WinAPI) Allegro.cc: More allegro powered games than you'll probably ever get a chance to play. Check it out and make sure you have some time to spend. Allegro library: Home of the Allegro library used to make just about all the games offered on this site. DJGPP compiler: A free gcc compiler for DOS that I use on pretty much a daily basis. Not nearly as bloated as most of the comercial C/C++ compilers. Worth your time, without a doubt. Gamasutra: Much like Gamedev, this site has tons of information good for getting started in game programming. Gamedev.net: A wealth of information on game programming. Mostly focused on DirectX and OpenGL. Tons of tutorials on getting involved in the game programming industry. Jeff Frohwein's Software / Hardware Dev'rs: A ton of information for programming the GB, GBA, and other handheld games. Where I got most of the information to program the Gameboy demo listed under my projects. Newbie Game Programmers: A good deal of content on writting code for Allegro as well as free sounds, sprites, and other stuff you can use for writting your first game (I used some of their content for my current project P3AGSD). Pixel art tutorial: A good tutorial for getting stated makeing sprites for games. Pixelate: Magazine dedicated to Allegro game programming. Great for beginners looking for some info on more detailed portions of the Allegro library not covered in the docs. Pixelation: Message board where people discuss and post pixel are for various games. Has a fairly active community and some of their work is very well done. |
